Simple Future Tense

1. Present Continuous Verb Tense is used to state future events or actions when it is clearly stated or understood that the action or event is in the future.

o We are traveling to Europe in a few weeks.

* the subject of the sentence must be a person, not a thing
* the present continuous tense can’t be used to predict a future event or action, based on a present event or action.

2. Present Continuous Verb Tense with “going to” is used:

* We are going to travel to the United States in a few days.
* The girls are going out tonight.

* to state a fact about the future
o My teacher will be happy, the whole class passed the test.
o The phone bill will be very very high, my father will be very upset.
* to predicate a future event or action
o I think it will rain this afternoon.
o My sister will be a great teacher.
* to make a formal statement about a future action or event
o The president will make a public announcement on Tuesday at 8:00PM.
o The school will be closed for a few days.
9. to make suggestions or state ideas
10. We will be happy drive you to the store.
11. Will we go to the store tonight or tomorrow morning.
12. to make a request
* Will you come with me to the store?
* You will do your homework now.
