There is/There are kalıbı, İngilizce’de “var” manasını vermek için kullanılır.

There is a book. (Bir kitap var.)

There is a book on the table. (Masanın üstünde bir kitap var.)

There are books. (Kitaplar var.)

Zarflar eylemleri niteleyen sözcüklerdir. Eylemlerin nasıl yapıldığı veya nasıl olduğu hakkında bilgi veren sözcüklerdir. Zarflar genellikle sıfatlardan türerler.

Dikkat: Zarflar fiilleri (yüklemi) niteler; sıfatlar isimleri niteler..
